"Wonderful hotel and a great value. It has a storied history as Hotel Cervantes (famous writers like Borges and Cortazar stayed there), but it is newly renovated and very modern. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to major sights and great restaurants. If I return to Montevideo, I will stay there again."
"The staff is great. We usually start our vacation in Mvd and this is a great location to walk around, shop, eat and sit in the rambla. Felt safe, well lit entrance and great breakfast. Hotel recently removed rugs improving the appearance.

"Very friendly helpful staff. Convenient central location within easy access to Montevideo's central tourist attractions. Close to many cafes and restaurants with great menus. Very confortable."
"The Casablanca Hotel has a very collegial staff who take a lot of pride in the property. The hotel has a dining area with a microwave and an electric kettle that makes breakfast easy, and a spot where you can make a cup of coffee when you want. I was especially impressed with the housekeeping staff. Everyone spoke to this 73 old solo traveler and made me feel welcome. This is a quiet hotel in the middle of everything like fruit vendors, bakeries, and walks to La Rambla de Montevideo, and...
"This is like a bed and breakfast in old town Montevideo. The free breakfast was outstanding. The location is very convenient for access to the port, the port market, and many museums. We added a combined walk/car tour to intensely experience Montevideo during our 4-day stay."

It's a small, 10ish story hotel. It has ALL the amenities, though on a bit of a small scale. For the price I couldn't beat it. Large room with kitchenette. Nice bath. Indiv Heat/AC. Restaurant, room service, small exercise room, rooftop deck. Very polite, competent staff speaks Spanish, Eng, Portu. Possibly also German.
Nearby: 3 grocery stores, 3 pastry shops, many restaurants (counter to first class), 3 each of cambios/banks/ATM, A huge public square w/ fountain...
Location ideal (between old and new).
Lighting for reading (in bed) inadequate.
Staff/ advice great. No bulletin board or listings of events, no listings of rec. restaurants.
Just one blocks from Plaza Ing. Juan Pedro Fabini, where you can find locals dining under umbrellas while the kids and families enjoy the artistic garden and grounds of the plaza. It's full of life, music and great food. It's also a few blocks from a great stroll along the coastal drive called Rambla República Helénica where you'll find jogger's, local's fishing or just relaxing under the sun. It's a vibrant city thats easy to walk around in and learn the streets almost immediately. If you enjoy...
When I saw the price, I thought it was too good to be true. After staying there for four nights, we were amazed. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The room is not luxurious, but is comfortable and totally clean. The location is fantastic with historically important restaurants very nearby, and a bakery next-door. Easy walk to the historic downtown and also to very good local bus service to get to other areas. Breakfast also was outstanding with many choices of delicious things.
Uruguay hotel has all the basics covered. Clean, okay breakfast, working WiFi. The bathroom gets a little messy given that shower isn’t separated. The location is very convenient, easy walk from ciudad viejo and rambla. Overall it is on the older side, but it is a good value for the price.
The hotel was beautiful, unique and the location was convenient. The staff went above and beyond with advice and even helped us book our ferry tickets and order pizza for dinner one night. The bed was very comfortable. I would recommend this place.
I had a wonderful stay at FAUNA Montevideo. The hosts were very helpful with check-in and check-out. They also had nice attention to details that made the stay even better such as water in the fridge, pleasant music in the lounge, drinks, and snacks. The decor of the hotel is great! The location was close to everything I wanted to see, so I could walk everywhere. Overall, great stay! Thanks!
Annette was great, super nice the whole time. I would recommend learning spanish as most of the city people just speak spanish. The hosts were very gracious and we even ate dinner together a few times.
