Very clean hotel, great location, and everyone working there spoke decent english and were very helpful. We were there for the Santa Cruz Trek on our own, and they helped us with info on where to get the collectivo to get there and gave us advice on what time to leave and how much to expect to pay, etc. If you stay there, definitely don't skip their breakfasts! Nice fresh bread, juice and fruits, eggs, butter and jam...
It was perfect for our short trip. We had 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. A small but adequate kitchen and family room with a TV. The included breakfast was a great way to start our day. Fresh juice, eggs, local fresh bread and coffee. The staff was very accommodating. It was a very safe place and walking distance to everything and the downtown area. Highly recommend this place.

The staff at Hotel Abuelo is superlative. We speak no Spanish, so every day the owner, Philippe, would call travel agencies to set up tours for us. He walked with us to the pick up location and waited with us until the van arrived. He even helped us purchase our bus tickets to Trujillo. In a town where no one speaks English, Phillipe is invaluable. Also, The coffee at was the best we had in our 21 data in Perú. Also appreciated was the endless hot water. Owners and staff makes you feel like at home, very attentive. Access is a little hard due to the road and not all drivers are familiar with the hotel, however the view is priceless
This is an excellent place to stay, but if you aren't being picked up, it can be hard to find the first time around. The breakfast was great, the rates reasonable, and the hotel quiet and pleasant. The staff was top notch as well.
