We booked a Deluxe King Room specifically to stay at the same hotel as close friends who were also visiting. Upon arrival, we were told we’d been upgraded to the Neptune building, supposedly the best unit available. Unfortunately, this “upgrade” ended up being the low point of our trip.
The room was not in the condition we expected—so questionable that I wore sandals in the shower, which says a lot. The boardwalk view came with constant noise, including people blasting music just feet from our window. On Saturday night, a family had a large speaker and was playing timbales loudly right outside. There was zero sound control, and our bathroom window was permanently open. The kitchen window had no curtain, forcing us to hang a dress up for privacy.
Even worse, my friend experienced a terrifying incident at 11 PM when someone began aggressively knocking on their door, shining a flashlight inside, and trying to open it. Thankfully, they had the latch on. The front desk later told us it was maintenance responding to a power issue in another unit—but no warning, no ID, and no explanation at the time. Absolutely unacceptable.
On top of all this, we were charged a $50 additional guest fee, despite it being just the two of us.
There are smaller, independent hotels in the area that look much better maintained. This property clearly lacks basic upkeep and hospitality standards, and no amount of “upgrading” can cover that up. Disappointing stay, and we wouldn’t return.
