Beautiful hotel - gorgeous gardens and lovely low rise buildings - immaculately maintained and cleaned - very big and comfortable rooms
Excellent food - even for vegan (except vegan desserts which they don’t do) but overall food was superb
The pool is gorgeous, so is the beach (although not great for sea swimming, its way too shallow) and there are loads of loungers so lots of space
Restaurant serving staff, cooks, cleaners and gardeners are lovely and helpful. Reception are a bit grumpy.
Negatives: main problem is the airport transfer service from Ukundu which is about 6 miles away. Pinewood present this on their website and listings as an inclusive service available to guests; we had 4 phone calls organizing transfer taxis and nobody mentioned an extra charge; when I checked out they charged me an extra USD $40 which is more than double UK prices for such a short journey and for Kenya prices this is an astonishing rip off. Strongly recommend anyone else not to use Pinewood’s transfer service.
the quality of the coffee is poor - in a coffee producing country this should be improved
The bathrooms only have cheap generic shampoo dispensers which is a let down as otherwise the rooms are great. They need to invest in premium branded products.
