We stayed at The Boathouse & Rooms in Chester for one night and really enjoyed our visit. Parking was simple in the little courtyard (we arrived around 4:30pm on a Saturday) and check-in was quick and easy. We stayed in Room 11, which was spacious, spotless and comfortably warm. The bed was a good size, the TV decent, and there was plenty of storage. The bathroom was modern and well-kept too.
If I had to pick faults, the WiFi was very slow – my 5G connection worked far better – and a lot of the TV channels didn’t seem to load. It was also a little noisy at times when other guests used the bathroom taps or toilets, but that’s to be expected in an older building.
We had drinks outside on the terrace by the river, which was lovely even in October. The private huts are a great idea, though most of the heat lamps could do with a fix. Breakfast in the restaurant the next morning was excellent – everything tasted fresh and well-cooked, and the service from all the staff was friendly and efficient.
Overall, it’s a charming place in a great location with plenty of character. A few small tweaks and it would be near perfect.
