Nice hotel but it was overpriced. For the price we paid, we expected to have a real window with a view of the city instead of looking at the glass wall right in front of the window. The room layout was also not the best.

Couldn’t be more disappointed with what was supposed to be a romantic get away. I booked a room For 2 nights at The Westin in Hamburg for my wife and I 10 year anniversary. Was meant to be a special weekend for us as it was our 1st weekend away without you kids in over 2 years. I booked a room with a “view” as of course I wanted to pop a bottle of champagne, whilst sitting with a view over the city after arriving to celebrate. On arrival to the room, I opened the curtains only to find out that we were staring directly into a wall. There was no “view” at all. On check out I spoke to the lady behind the desk to voice my disappointment, only to be told that this was a view, as my room had a window and that, if I wanted a room with a view, then I should have in fact ordered the room with harbour view. Both my wife and I left the hotel feeling absolutely deceived and mislead, as we genuinely thought that it was a mistake after rechecking my booking. Furthermore, being woken up at 09.05 on Saturday morning with a knock on the door from a man wanting in for cleaning, is just not ok! Furthermore again, in the afternoon we decided to try the spa facilities, only to come down a child in the pool doing countless “bombs” in the pool. A spa is meant to be relaxing and for adults in my eyes. All in all an extremely disappointing weekend on the accommodation front. Wish we chose another hotel but we expected so much from what was meant to be the best of the best in Hamburg.

Classic Westin property with luxurious touches. Our room was on the top floor, but faced into the wavy roofline, which meant people on the other side could see into our room. Might as well gotten a room without windows because this meant our windows were closed all the time. The property is at the end of one of the harbors. The views are terrific as the hotel sits on top of the philharmonic building, and there is a outer walkway for a 360-degree view Hamburg. There is not much in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. But just walking a mile into the city center will get you up close to some historic sights. The room is modern, comfy, and quiet. The bathroom has a neat door that doubles as the toilet door too.

Very long wait at the check in. Staff took way too long of time and were not helpful what so ever. Worst of all, my room was facing and inner opening in this building that looked at a glass wall and my room therefore felt like a prison. It is much better to book another hotel near by and see the Philharmonie building as a day tourist.
