Great updated 5 star facilities, but service is not 5 star, or even 4 star level unfortunately. We've stayed 2 years in a row but will look elsewhere for our summer break next year.

Amazing property, and amazing weather. Our cottage was lovely. The staff are doing really well giving the pingdemic. I was disappointed my teens were only allowed in the pool for 2 hours a day with the little kids, I think this should have been more prominent on our booking.

Positives: Incredible views during breakfast. Nice bath Nice shower gel Receptionist showed us around Negatives: Had to close curtains as i was assigned the room that had 'inland' view which meant i saw other visitors rooms Rubbish being thrown out (bottles) in the middle of the night. 3 times during the night! Trains start around 4/5am so expect to be woken up by them. 2-3 trains an hour. Bed is hard! Instant coffee facilities inside the room( 2 sachets of normal coffee and 2 decaffs). At this rate i would expect a coffee machine. Pool is closed (only found out when walked by) Was not asked how was my stay, hence my review here No information about extra measurements due to Covid Left this place tired as could not get proper sleep due to the noise during the night

Magnificent location, unfortunately the hotel does not live up to its glossy website or 5* aspirations. A massive disappointment was that the pool and spa are currently a building site.

We were very disappointed to find the outdoor pool was closed as this was the main driver for booking this hotel. We complained and questioned why we had not been notified. We were told that they don’t deal directly with hotels.com so they wouldn’t contact us directly. We were also told that it was on the hotels website which we had visited in advance and it was not overtly communicated. You had to scroll to the bottom of the home page and select COVID update and it was referenced in there. The manager apologised but didn’t offer any compensation, not even a complimentary coffee. The location is stunning but the hotel was not worth the money we paid. There was no evidence of extra cleaning staff around the hotel as the COVID video on their website implies. Breakfast service was slow and the food was cold. This may be due to changes in service due to COVID but could be easily rectified with more staff. There were a few members of staff on reception that gave very good customer service but on the whole it felt like we were not valued guests. Finally, be careful when charging to your room. They ask for your room number but no name and when we came to pay, our bill was incorrect but to be fair this was handled very well by the on-duty manager.

Weekend away hotel was on the expensive side but I did not think it warranted the price tag. It was obvious the hotel was still geering up after lockdown with little staff. I enjoyed my stay at Fistral beach more so.

Overall an excellent holiday, the room had everything we needed and more, the choice of restaurant and places to eat was by far the best choice we have had. There were changes due to COVID-19 situation meant the pool was not in use but the views, beach and amenities more than made up for it. A short but scenic walk to St Ives. A big thumbs up.

This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely location with excellent staff. To make it even better adding a cycle rack for cycling guests would be great. Also availability of beach towels, given that part of the hotel complex is actually on the seafront would be a good idea (these are not available upon request - and it is a really nice beach).
