I cannot say enough great things about Cheryl and her wonderful property!! From day one we felt at home and Cheryl couldn’t have been more helpful with anything and everything we asked about! And her cooking- oh my God!!! It was So much fun to meet up in the bar/ restaurant/ pool area after a day of excursions and exchange thoughts and adventures of the day with other people there, or You can just stay in your room and relax!! Either way, you won’t be disappointed!!! If you’re lucky enough to stay here, you’re lucky enough!!! Thank you Cheryl, Alex, Micheal at Guava Grove. I hope to see you again!!!
The owner Cheryl made my stay a fantastic one. The pool bar is a nice touch and very fun for anyone who just wants to relax by the pool and have a few drinks. The rooms are very descent and clean. Wifi availability is great across the entire premises.
Great place and friendly staff. Beautiful garden , great food and drinks. The only thing that is listed incorrect is the shutte fee. It claims round trip and we got charged each way. So it’ll end up costing you double what is listed.
The week is a difficult one as it is the anniversary of multiple family members death. I wanted to get away to relax and not really deal with people. I read the reviews for Guava Grove and decided to go with them. Best decision ever! As soon as I booked, I got an email from the owner Cheryl asking if there was anything I wanted to do or see while there. She was just as accomodating the whole week there. Guava Grove is small and away from the tourist areas. (Between West End and Sandy Bay) However, a nice walk or short cab ride if you want to go to those areas. The rooms have all the amenities. Thank you for the AC! There is a pool bar and grill/restaurant on site. The beach is located across the road, where one day I swam out to the reef to snorkle. Cheryl recommended Octopus Dive School and they didn't disappoint. (I'll give them their own review). One of the workers, Alex, gave me a tour of the Island. It was nice to see the culture and not the tourist sites. More importantly, I just relaxed and enjoyed my time. I came the perfect week for me. I was the only guest. Which I'm glad because I know she will have a party of 20 from Argentina in a couple of weeks!! This was my first time to Roatan and I will definately be back. I will also stay again at Guava Grove. The people and atmosphere felt like I was with friends at home.
Great overall feel. Perfect for people who don't need luxury and are happy with ordinary comfortable small property vibe. Internet was poor and intermittently absent. Would still choose this place again.
From what we've seen the location is spot on if you don't want to be in the hustle and bustle. Nice and peaceful but only a few minutes bus/taxi ride into town. Room as expected shame about lack of wardrobe space and tv angle. Breakfast was quite repetitive as on a four day cycle. Cheryl did make an effort to change to something different. We did find it a bit odd how there isn't a choice and the first day was very awkward trying to ask the cook who didn't speak much English for a cup of tea rather than coffee. We did eat at the restaurant once which was a lovely. However we tried to visit on other occasions but no one was in sight so left and went elsewhere. Not much privacy, felt like they just came into our room whenever they felt like it. Made us feel slightly awkward and couldn't really relax. Peering through the window rather than knocking on the door like a normal person. The cleaner actually stood at the window waiting for us to leave...considering we'd not long left breakfast we felt very rushed to leave. From the moment of arriving at guava grove after traveling two days to get there we were made to feel guilty for using electricity during our stay. I'd say we are a very conscious couple about creating little waste so feel it was really unnecessary to say not to switch lights/ air con on. On the whole it was a very enjoyable holiday. I'd recommend staying at guava grove if you are very sociable and not more reserved like my partner and I.
The Guava Grove is a lovely little resort. The location was great for exploring beautiful Roatan, our room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed, including good wi-fi. The grounds and gardens are well maintained and charming. The local fauna, including the resident Agouti and fowl (which I nicknamed Remy Rooster, Henny Penny, Chicky Wicky and Klucky Wucky) added to the rustic charm of the place. And watching Cheryl try to shoo Henny and the girls away was very entertaining. We are very independent travelers (we rented a scooter for our week on the island and lived to tell the tale 😅) and didn't do any guided tours, but Cheryl's recommendations and advice were spot on. A bonus for us as parents of two fur babies was snuggling with Shiva, the queen cat of Guava Grove. We had a fabulous week of amazing snorkeling, bonding with monkeys and sloths, gorgeous food and interesting people. Guava Grove was a great launching and landing pad for our many adventures. Special shout out to Cheryl for arranging our anniversary dinner at Ibagari. Incredible!
First time back on the island for a while and Guava Grove provided a quiet and peaceful oasis with a gorgeous pool, beautiful gardens and Cheryl was a fantastic host. Only a 3 minutes bus or cab ride into the hustle and bustle of West End. Can’t wait to return
This property is great if you like being off the beaten path but safe and cared for. Sandy Bay Beach is right across the street and has some of the most amazing snorkeling. Not familiar with snorkeling? Now worries Cheryl the owner will take you and show you the best spots! This property also is just a 5 minute taxi ride to the more touristy areas so it is the best of both worlds. We really felt like we experienced the real Roatan at Guava Grove.
My wife and I have found our paradise and it is Guave Grove Villas & Resort in Roatan, Honduras. The best part about Guave Grove is the personalized and fabulous service you receive from the owner, Cheryl, and her staff. The entire property is beautiful with Guave trees and exotic flowers. The pool area is great for lying in the sun, reading a book, swimming laps or floating on a raft. There is also a poolside bar where you can always grab a cold beer or drink of your choice. Adjacent to the pool is a charming and relaxing cafe with delicious food and friendly service. Our room was very clean with a comfortable bed, air conditioning, cable TV, a refrigerator and kitchenette. The beach and ocean are just a short walk across the street where we enjoyed the best snorkeling of our lives. For a small fee, the owner personally took us out snorkeling the first time to show us the best spots to see beautiful coral and colorful fish. For the remainder of the week, we were allowed to use their snorkeling gear at no cost and go snorkeling on our own. Because this is a boutique resort, there are only 7 units so we were continually amazed at how private it was. But when we wanted to experience restaurants, bars, shops and people watching, we were able to take a short cab ride for just $2 or $3 per person to the lively West End and West Bay Area. In closing, our stay at Gauva Grove was by far the best travel experience we have ever had in our lives. We will most definitely be back again.
