Staying at the Firgarth was wonderful. It is perfectly situated about a 12 minute walk outside of Windermere (and from the primary train station). The breakfast was fabulous every single day, and I always looked forward to it.
It is an easy walk down to Bowness-on-Windermere with lots of amazing views of the lake, pastures, and hills to climb. I had lots of fun just walking around that area.
The only potential issue is the internet in the region can be a bit sporadic at times. Having lived in similar remote locations, I doubt this is limited to the Firgarth. Also, if you are visiting Windermere for good internet service, you really have the wrong idea about visiting a place known for its natural beauty.
On a brief customer service aside, the owners were always willing help me find my way around. Further, I was offered a free upgrade to a larger room after the first night without any prompting from me. I actually declined it as I loved the smaller room (this should tell you how good the rooms are).
The bottom line? Stay here. It is amazing, and the owners are simply fabulous.
