We just returned from Shaka Caye celebrating our 25th anniversary in late April/early May. Our updated cottage was very nice with everything needed. The bed was surprising comfortable. The island was quiet and very low-key so if you're looking for seclusion and relaxation, this is it. Most of our 6 day stay had only one other couple, which made making friends very easy. On one day, we were the only guests on the island. The food was great; never had a bad meal. The staff were outstanding. We couldn't have asked for better service. They were very accomodating booking excursions and working with us on meal times. Big shout out to Ray and Ismael for keeping us well-fed and mixing drinks (ask Ray to make you something special!). They were a delight! Andre took us on a snorkeling trip at the reef, and made the whole thing just amazing. He got us close to a dolphin so we could swim with it -- highlight of our trip! He made the trip to the reef so enjoyable. The sweet ladies in Housekeeping did a great job too. Edwin transported us back and forth from the mainland, and always communicated with us if the water was going to be rough, change in course, or just timing. Overall we couldn't have met nicer people! The only cons are they need a robust ice machine to keep drinks cool (I believe one may be on order), broader drink menu, lighter food options for breakfast and lunch, and consistent wifi.
