We stayed one night, just two of us. Before booking, I read really good reviews and I liked the character, quirkiness and history about the hotel.
Hotel looks great, however I think we pulled the short straw with room 1. It was at the very bottom of the building, very low ceilings. Although I did like the character, it was a tunnel at some point in history. So we felt like we was sleeping under a bridge. The bathroom smelt of damp, the extraction fan was useless. Lots of patches of paint touch ups all over and cobwebs and scratches etc. I couldn’t use the wifi, signal so bad. But wasn’t suprised given where we were.
Room very hot, opened windows in night , no breeze came through because the windows were under street level and behind a wall.
Coffee machine water tank was broke, the lid kept falling into it. Difficult to see what you are doing whilst making a brew as it was in the corner, behind the wardrobe and it’s all black. Could do with more lighting or clever lighting to make the space feel brighter and less like you in a prison cell/under a bridge.
I think if we was put in another room , I would be writing a different review as the hotel has great character and theme and the staff who we met were friendly. The location is spot on for shopping, pubs and restaurants.
We didn’t complain as we was only sleeping for one night and didn’t spend any time in the room, only to get changed before going out at night.
I don’t think it was worth £150 we paid.
