What an unexpected surprise! We were overwhelming pleased with the accommodations. They give a wonderful home-away-from-home vibe, and cleanliness was top notch.

The hotel is a smaller motel in a small town. It has been updated and the rooms are great. Sorry cute area. Has a pavilion, a place for a bonfire and a grill. Staff was super friendly ! It was close to many places to visit along Lake Michigan. I would recommend this motel if you are in this area.

I stayed in the motel not the cabins. The room was nice A/C worked well very comfortable. Don’t expect all the extras like a chain brand though. I’d recommend it.

I mistaking booked a non friendly pet room was told that I couldn't stay.ask for a refund she turned her back and said your agent is responsible.this is bullcrap human terror is not forgiven.

Met my expectations for a small motel in a rural area like this. Room was clean and comfortable, and would recommend if staying in the area. Breakfast didn't start until 7:30 which is later than anywhere else I've been, so I had to leave prior to that.

We enjoyed our stay at Mushroom Cap Motel. Check-in was easy. Our room was one of the cleanest we have ever been in. The staff was helpful and friendly. We would stay there again.

This is a wonderful little property! Just was remodeled in May 2026. They did a great job with it. Room was clean and brand new. Price was excellent. Not too far from Traverse city. Will definitely stay again

I was really looking forward to my one-night stay after reading all the recent great reviews, especially since the place had just been renovated. Sadly, my experience wasn’t as good as I hoped. When I got out of my car, I was surprised to see someone smoking weed at the picnic table. I know marijuana is legal in Michigan, but it’s not allowed here. The parking lot was small and challenging to navigate due to poorly marked parking spots and difficult-to-see lines. As I walked to my room, I was hit with a strong, musty cigarette smoke smell, even though the motel had a strict no-smoking rule. The bathroom, which had been updated, was in great shape. The mattress was very uncomfortable and three of the four pillows in the room had hairs on them. I kept coughing all night, probably because of the smell in the motel. I had to turn off the HVAC unit because it was making the smell worse in the room. Luckily, my coughing stopped when I left in the morning.

The room was alright, but when we turned the AC on it started to smell really bad and we had to turn it off (maintenance on those AC machines??), so having to choose between breathing clean air or being hot wasn't the greatest. The pillows were pretty uncomfortable too.

Our room was very clean, and the small sink in the room was an added feature along with the fridge and microwave. Everything looked updated/remodeled. Noise from the highway was a bit annoying but can’t be helped. TV reception wasn’t the greatest, as it kept losing the signal. But all in all, pleasant place to spend two nights.

Jen and her husband, who run the Mushroom Cap, are really nice and interesting people. Jen went the extra mile helping me with an unexpectedly late check-in which was very much appreciated after a long travel day. My room was large, well-equipped, and spotless. Will definitely stay there again if I'm in the area. Easy 5 stars.

Family owned property that they made me feel at home. Rooms appeared refurbished to new with very comfortable beds, strong AC, very clean rooms. I travel a lot and spend 80% of my time on the road and would easily return here again. This is a hidden gem. Better then Chain hotels.

Our room was definitely updated at some point relatively recently...newer carpet, updated bathroom. The room was pretty clean and didn't have any "oders" that one might expect from a "motel". Beds were OK, typical firmer hotel beds. No issues with anything, really. Office personnel were friendly and helpful.

First time here and it was great! Check-in was fantastic. The lady who checked us in was super nice and very helpful. The room was huge and super clean. The a/c was great! No elevators in the building, but wasn’t a bad stair climb.
