Gallery Guest House is one of the most unique properties I've stayed in. The decor is exactly as shown in the photos, with a quirky vintage style that gives the place a lot of character. The room contains two large beds—a king and what appeared to be a queen—making it a great option for up to four people.
The location is very convenient, about a 10-minute walk from Bologna's historic downtown. There's also a park and a supermarket within about five minutes, which is handy if you need supplies. We took a bus from Bologna Centrale train station, although you could also walk it in about 30 minutes.
Communication with the host was outstanding. Every WhatsApp message was answered almost immediately. Since there is no front desk, check-in is done using a code for a lockbox containing the keys. I was supposed to receive the code by email, but it didn't arrive. As soon as I contacted the host on WhatsApp, the issue was resolved immediately.
A nice surprise was discovering a small shared kitchen area with a fridge, espresso machine, utensils, and other useful items. I only found it by accident and was surprised it wasn't highlighted more prominently.
One thing to note is that the guest house sits slightly below street level, almost like a basement apartment. That wasn't a problem for me, but it's worth considering if that's not your preference.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend Gallery Guest House. It's comfortable, well-located, full of character, and supported by excellent hosts.
