If using GPS, be more prepared than I was, both popular GPS options take you to a point in the middle of the road and don't indicate which side of the road the hotel is on, and if you are coming from the South or the East, you won't see a sign for the hotel which is just 2 recessed doors on the North side of the building, blink and you miss it. The hotel is around the corner from the New York Style deli which is either open 24/7 or very late. There are bars in both hotels across the street. Park at the lot across the street from the hotel on the West side of Washington Ave, just North of Michigan Ave.

What a dump. Sheets were the most stained sheets I've ever seen in a hotel. There was actually a cigarette burn that had been partially cut out of the sheet. There were black oil stains on several sheets. They needed to use a flat sheet over the bedspread just to cover the poor condition of the spread. Every piece of furniture had visible stains. Tables were not clean. Kitchen chair had funk on it. Even the soap dispenser in the bathroom had gunk all over it. The shower curtain was literally stained yellow in areas. I don't think I've ever been grossed out more by a hotel, and I don't think I've ever left a review on a hotel before. Best part? Check in was 4:00. We couldn't get in until after 6:00 as they forgot to clean the room before we checked in and we walked into a dirty room. I think the housekeeping staff try to do the best they can with what they've got. What a lost opportunity as the room layout is great for larger groups that need to stay somewhere downtown.

In the heart of everything downtown but also across the street from bum central (bus terminal) hotel need repairs dishwasher was filled upon arrival that made the entire room smell so bad. They tried to move us to a room that had not been cleaned yet just for us to return back to our original room with the stinch. Bathroom was not clean we was instructed to talk to management the next morning just for them to tell us he won’t be back until the next week. They never accommodated us in no way. We’ve yet to hear anything back and that was a week ago

Overall the stay was great. The reason I rated it 4 stars is due to the cleanliness of the room. The headboards are stained pretty bad, Valentine's Day balloons were still in the room. Pillows were dirty, sheets and pillow cases were stained. While cleaning up after my babies, I swept up fake nails out the carpet, who knows how long it's been there. The hotel workers were very nice, helpful and friendly. My idea type of living for a hotel as far as the apartment style. The store nextdoor was a plus. I would stay again just need to touch up on cleaning.

The location and amenities were great! We stayed in a 2 bedroom with 3 queen/king-sized beds. The staff was very kind and responsive. Our only issue was that the room was not ready at the designated check-in time due to staff shortage and one of the bedrooms had very noisy pipes.

Check in was a long process and there was quite a line, took almost 30 minutes. After being assigned our room, we arrived to discover the room door propped open with dirty linens. The two beds had been stripped and none of the rest of the room appeared to be cleaned - full trash and visibly dirty coffee table. When we went back downstairs to inform the staff of this issue, they were still busy with the check in line. A manager stated she would go and look into it. While sitting and waiting we discovered that another couple had the same issue and were also waiting. While waiting we overheard the staff being unprofessional - one stating that she couldn’t wait to leave for the day, another saying “this is what happens when people call off” meaning the rooms not being cleaned. After about 20/30 minutes we decided to ask for a refund and find another hotel. We were not feeling confident that the room would be properly cleaned and after losing an hour of our time it was not worth it. We were checked in an in our other hotel within 10 minutes.

Paid for early check in, walked into my room and the bed was messy, the entire apt was filthy so I wasted $50 there. Certain amenities didn’t work. If it wasn’t for the staff I wouldn’t give hotel houze a second thought regarding rebooking.

The room was quite nice, it had everything you would want for a short stay, and everything you would need for a longer stay. The staff was very polite and helpful. I would recommend considering Hotel Houze for any Detroit activities. It was a short walk from the Huntington Place convention center.

Got to our room, and because the bathroom had an exterior wall, the pipes had frozen…no toilet, no sink, no shower. Called the front desk and was told to come down. I waited for about 15 minutes then was reassigned to a new room. Got to that room, and there was an industrial fan blowing on the carpet in an attempt to dry what must’ve been a leak or a massive spill. Came back down again and was reassigned a third room…that one was actually really solid, but on my way up, I was in the elevator with two people who overheard my troubles at the front desk and asked about it. After I told them my story I jokingly said “hope you’re not going to room 201” They were…the front desk assigned them the room with the frozen pipes. HAHA The staff was fantastic and friendly, and once I got into a solid room it was great. Clean, updated, all good. That’s why they get four stars. That said it’s an old building with some “old building” issues and the staff could really benefit from some extra help at check-in time, especially if it takes multiple tries to get a guest settled!
