I booked this property through Expedia and expected all communication and payments to be handled securely through the platform. However, I received a confusing phone call from a lady who said we needed to pay a $300 deposit through a link she would send by email before check-in. Her English was difficult to understand, and after several attempts, we finally found two of her emails in our junk folder.
We couldn’t check in until we paid the deposit through that link, and felt very suspicious. The whole experience made us extremely uncomfortable, and we only proceeded with the payment hoping it wasn’t a scam.
Even though the booking was listed as non-refundable, I’m requesting a refund due to how unsafe and misleading this process felt. This situation was not what we expected from an Expedia booking.
