Location is excellent, staff friendly & polite, however they don't seem to appreciate expediancy - maybe time works slower in a regional centre!
20 minutes to check in, way too long. Ordered a drink at the bar, took 30 minutes to receive, shouldn't be an issue, but the other 3 people in our group had already finished their drinks and were looking to head out for dinner before mine had arrived. Note: we chased the bar staff twice and it still took 30 minutes to get a basic draught beer.
The room we were in was a good size - better than most places we've stayed, but must be at the end of the hot water line as water pressure non-existent during times of high demand, same for temperature. Stayed two nights, 2 luke warm dribbling showers - not ideal in winter.
Toilet cistern leaked at every flush, seriously, do the cleaners not notice something as obvious as this!
Overall the hotel is in an excellent location with great history - can't fault this aspect. But the hotel accommodation also appears to be somewhat dated, lacking maintenance and probably overdue for renewal.
Would consider staying again. But only in summer when a cold shower is acceptable.
