This is by far the worst hotel experience I’ve had in years — all because my shopping bag went missing (worth about USD 300). The cleaner took it (they claimed it was by accident, but I don’t believe a word of it). I only had three shopping bags, none of which were full, and it was obvious there were items inside — certainly not trash. What’s more frustrating is that they left my empty Starbucks cup on the table, clearly recognizing what should and shouldn’t be thrown away.
I had left the bags neatly on the floor. My room was tidy, and since it was only my second day, I was completely aware of what I had. In the end, they returned my belongings and insisted the cleaner took them “by accident,” yet they couldn’t explain how such an accident could happen. The story just sounded incredibly dodgy. They also said they found the items in the trash, not in the cleaner’s possession — but the items didn’t smell at all and were perfectly clean.
I asked for a reasonable explanation, but they kept insisting it was accidental. Coming from a world-renowned five-star hotel, this is unbelievably disappointing. I will never stay at a Four Seasons again.
