We stayed here for one night as we were attending a talk at the nearby arts centre. The hotel is very close to the centre, about a 5 minute walk so ideally situated.
After a 4 and a half hour drive, our first impression was marred slightly by several feral kids running amok in the bar making one heck of a noise - that, obviously,, is NOT the fault of the hotel staff which is why I’ve still given a rating of good. I took a beer up to our room anyway to get away from the carnage.
They left after a couple of hours.
Apart from that, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was cosy - it’s a very old building with lots of history so expect the odd creaky floor board and low beams, sort of comes with the territory.
We are in the eatery before going to the arts centre - food was lovely, staff were attentive and helpful. Breakfast was actually one of the best I’ve had at a hotel and I’ve stayed at literally dozens of places as part of my work.
All in all it was a nice stay and taking the feral manic kids out of the equation we’d definitely stay here again.
