Holiday Inn Express Hotel Review
GRANDMA'S STUFFY ATTIC
My wife and I chose this hotel based on its impressive 9.4-star rating, but after our stay, we’re genuinely questioning how that rating was achieved. Either the people reviewing have only ever stayed in highway motels, or were paid for their reviews, or perhaps we were simply given the worst room based on how we looked.
The room itself was tired and neglected. There was a clear lack of care — from the safe box dumped on the closet floor (despite there being plenty of empty space for a proper cabinet) to the once-white towels, now dingy and so rough they felt better suited as cleaning rags than for guests.
When we first walked in, the stale, suffocating stench hit us immediately — it was like stepping into your great grandma’s dusty attic on the hottest day of summer. We had to prop the door open just to air the room out while we disinfected everything ourselves.
It didn’t stop there: the mattress cover was so old it was shredded and half-off the bed, leaving us to finish making the bed ourselves.
As for the "continental breakfast," it was so stale and unappetizing.
Absolutely disappointing from start to finish. Hospitality means creating a welcoming, clean, and cared-for environment, and unfortunately, this hotel missed the mark by miles. If we could give it a negative zero rating, we would. Management seriously needs to raise their standards — guests deserve better.
