8/10 Very good

Great room, beautiful surroundings and the guy running the hotel was very friendly. Unfortunately I think they were a bit short staffed on the day so it took quite a while to get checked in and then the restaurant was full so we had to go elsewhere to eat - which wasnt easy in a tiny village.

Great food and a lovely comfortable bed!

Had a fab stay at the Forresters Arms. Lovely food (both evening meal and breakfast, great staff and a hugely comfortable bed. Will be back, again!

Average minus

It all started badly. This pub was booked because it had an EV charger but it didn’t. We booked dinner but the chef didn’t show up. We chose a room with a king sized bed but it didn’t have one. There were no bathroom toiletries except two bars of soap. Anything else? The publican was having a bad day but that is not our problem.

Friendly staff & warm welcome Allocated room was above restaurant - so was a little noisy (mainly from the piped music) Food was very good with interesting & varied items on the menu

Check arrival times

Pub was closed due to staffing shortage when we arrived. Had to wait an hour to be let in. Manager was very apologetic but it made us late for a meal we had booked.

The Forresters Arms is a very charming place, quiet and well maintained. The facilities are good and the staff friendly. It is ideally located to go hiking in the National Park. We will definitely come back here when we travel next in the area!

We had a lovely stay in this traditional pub about 40 mins drive from central York. Drinks, dinner and breakfast were all excellent. Highly recommended!

This is a lovely pub with fantastic rooms. It is in a stunning location and the owners and all staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us during our stay. The bedroom was very comfortable, cosy decor and immaculately clean and with lots of little touches to make your stay perfect. The breakfast is fantastic - lots of options but I would recommend the full Yorkshire (although you may struggle to finish as they do not skimp on portions !!!) A Fabulous stay.

Fantastic spot with great rooms and hospitality

Fantastic B&B pub. We booked the day of our stay as a last minute treat. We will definitely be coming back again. Staff are wonderful and inviting, breakfast is fantastic, rooms are lovely and well maintained. We took our two year old daughter and she loved it. She was made really welcome and catered for. We were in the pub with her having dinner until 10pm and no one made us feel unwelcome with her. Thank you so much for our stay!

A Credit to the Area

As soon as we pulled up out side the look of the Forresters Arms was welcoming and the when we went in side to check in again the staff were very welcoming and the paperwork was simple and smooth couldn't ask for more. The whole of the Forresters Arms was clean, the food was well presented on the plant and the staff who served were also well presented, will be looking to use again when in the area without a second thought.

Lovely period pub spoilt by lack of attention.

Room pleasant but cold on arrival. Did not warm appreciably despite oil radiator being switched on. Towel rail not working so bathroom cold. No toiletries. Evening meal pleasant and catered for dietary needs. Room still cold after meal and radiators went off at around 21:00 Slept fully clothed to keep warm! Room again cold in morning and then discovered no breakfast available.

Bed no breakfast

Nice, pub, pretty village, pleasant room, ok service, food ok. So far so good….. Was asked to complete breakfast choices and time the night before. Arrived for breakfast at 8am as agreed to find nobody about. Waited in the dining room for over 20 minutes, checked reception and the bar area but there wasn’t a soul to be found and certainly no smells coming from the kitchen to suggest any food was cooking. Left after half an hour as was clear nobody was bothering. Even in some of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in, they’ve at least turned up to cook and serve breakfast. Appreciate it may have been a staffing issue but I’ve heard nothing from them since to apologise or offer recompense.

I can't really fault it. The property is nice, staff were really nice, the room was just what we hoped for. We had a lovely evening meal followed by a good nights sleep. Breakfast options were all cooked options, although I'm not a breakfast eater so only had some toast.

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful village

I have stayed here before and the whole experience is good so I keep coming back. The food is very good and the Mason's Yorkshire Gin and Tonic is a work of art. The Forrester's is located in a beautiful village close to the White Horse carved into the hillside. Mouseman furniture is right next door and is also worth a visit.

8/10 Very good

Kilburn is a beautiful little town, and the Forresters Arms is a nice, quiet place to stay. The rooms are decent enough for a place to rest your head for the night after you're done exploring the beautiful countryside. The staff is friendly, but at times, I felt they were unnecessarily stressed and frenzied. Just the vibe I got. I'm pretty tall, so I had to duck around the place. However, since it's an old historic building, that was expected. Overall, I'd stay here again. The price is decent, the location is excellent, and the food is good too.

A lovely place to stay in a lovely part of Yorkshire. the food here is excellent, both the evening meals and the breakfasts. Good value for money. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Definitely recommend if visiting this part of the world.

Excellent stay. Staff are lovely, food was superb. The only little thing I would mention is that the room was very cold even though the heating was on but this was an unusually cold spell and therefore the heating may have just struggled a little.
