This was a wonderful stay in a beautiful building and grounds. We stayed in ‘The Princess’s Room’ which is glorious. Full length embroidered silk curtains and lovely feature detailing. It is not the room to choose if you want a ‘normal’ easy access shower; it’s original 1920’s fittings are a very large enamel bath (good for two) and a hand held only shower head. The room has been beautifully restored and its 1920’s mosaic decoration is fabulous. (The other rooms have modern bathroom fittings with walking / wet room showers , as well as both stair and elevator access.) The hostess is very welcoming and clearly massively invested in the very beautiful restoration (on going) of both the house, buildings and garden/estate. The gardens are of note with some very special plants, particularly roses. Whilst we were staying, 6 guided garden tours took place with both our hostess/owner and the estate’s gardener engaging groups of 30 visitors in a 90 minute tour and talk.
The history of the area is fascinating and Dinan is a beautiful town with much to offer. We ate very well, and know that should you ask the hostess where to eat she will only recommend restarants and which she personally thinks are good! A great place to start - especially with the Port of Dinan being within easy walking of the Chateau and having too many restaurants to choose from! We had the most delightful stay and will be aiming to return again, with others😊😊😊👌
