Newly renovated castle-feel, genuine work of sincere passion to Naxos history. Clean place, accommodating host that provided excellent history of the project. Very impressive! Excellent views at sunset from the rooftop. The most wonderful experience during our trip.

They made us feel so welcome, and the accommodations and view from the rooftop patio were incredible! We absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend it to everyone! Such a sweet family who owns this beautiful place.

The rooms were clean and set in an ancient castle of Naxos. The host was amazing - he picked us up from the airport, and gave us a tour of the property and pointed out a lot of the ancient architectural details. The view from the rooftop was amazing - one can see the portara. It was a central location but need to walk a lot of stairs to reach (manageable since my family is pretty fit). Room was great - air conditioning works fine inside the room. Would highly recommend!

This is an exceptional stay in the heart of Old Town, Naxos. The passion that Andreas has for Katharsis is evident in the care and appearance of the property. We appreciated the historical tour that he gave us, taking over an hour out of his day to explain the historical significance, architecture and transformation that the property has undergone though generations. The rich historic past of the location is balanced with modern amenities, beautifully appointed rooms and decor. Finally, an absolutely stunning rooftop terrace ensure this properly will not disappoint.

This "hotel" has only 2 rooms but lots of history and beautiful decor, but there is no door on the bathroom. The AC was great and bed was comfy but a little small. The host was not able to communicate through expedia but when I reached him he said he would be there in 5 minutes. Really nice guy but no clear sense of time. He would have pick us up at the ferry if we had known we were coming, so best for the guest to make an effort to contact him through WhatsApp. He did drop us off at the airport the next morning but was again late. BTW, the airport is crazy. The hotel was difficult to find so try to find the elevator that goes up to the Avator? Avaton Restaurant. Its the only place with signs everywhere.

Wir hatten einen fantastischen Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel. Das antike Zimmer war wunderschön und sehr geräumig, mit einer besonderen historischen Atmosphäre. Alles war makellos sauber. Die Gastgeber sind eine sehr hilfsbereite Familie. Das Highlight war die Dachterrasse mit einer wirklich atemberaubenden Aussicht. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Loved our castle stay

It’s in a castle! Andreas was the most gracious and welcoming host. The room is spacious and equipped with a coffee machine, fridge and even washer/dryer. There is also a rooftop where we enjoyed wine and sunset 🙂

A true gem in the heart of the Kastro. We only stayed one night but could have stayed a week. The property, whose foundation dates to the 15th Century and was originally owned by the church, has been meticulously restored. The room was an oasis of peace. The rooftop terrace has stunning views. We will return one day.

An Impeccable Stay at Katharsis Retreat! I recently had the pleasure of staying at Katharsis Retreat in Naxos, and I can't recommend it enough. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was truly exceptional. The host and property owner, Andreas, was incredibly thoughtful, communicative, and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I've traveled extensively, and it's rare to find a host who puts so much heart into making their guests feel completely at home. The retreat itself is a remarkable space. Built in the 15th century, it has the enchanting feel of a modern cave dwelling, blending history with contemporary comfort. The architecture is *stunning*, and it was exactly what I was looking for—a place that felt both nostalgic and traditional. The location is also perfect. It's situated in Polis, offering a peaceful escape while still being conveniently close to the main town with its high selection of great restaurants and local shops. Katharsis Retreat is more than just a place to stay; it's an experience. The combination of Andreas' genuine hospitality and the unique beauty of the hotel made for an unforgettable trip. If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind stay in Naxos, this is definitely the place to go!! 10/10!!!

Et perfekt alternativ hvis du vil bo i Chora og allikevel ha det stille og rolig rundt deg. Rommet var veldig behagelig og fint, med lav temperatur og dempet belysning. Jeg sov som et barn hver natt! Området rundt er historisk og interessant, og det er alltid en mild bris i de trange smugene. Utsikten på takterrassen var fantastisk og du får en solveggen folk står i kø for å se.
