Amazing History | Beautiful Rooms | Delicious Food | Incredibly Personable Staff We absolutely loved this location and would highly recommend staying here—especially when no cruise ships are in port. Shopping and restaurants are just blocks away, along with the (in)famous 99 Steps and Blackbeard's right next door. The views from both the bar and our room were truly breathtaking. While the property still has restoration work ahead, the quality of what has already been completed is outstanding. If they continue on this path, this will undoubtedly become THE hotel to stay at on the island!

Walking distance to all the shopping of Charolette Amalie. The most welcoming staff. Very clean rooms, the pool being open 24/7 is an awesome touch. I would recommend this stay to anyone! Especially couples. I wouldn’t say it’s fit for families or elderly-or those with a hard time climbing stairs. A few Minutes drive to the airport and Brewers Beach. YOU WONT REGRET your stay

It’s a stunning, unique hotel. One great way to keep the wrong people from visiting? Tell them that there are no televisions in the rooms! From my perspective, that’s a big plus! And it signals that this hotel, combines luxury, history, and is aimed at the type of traveler who did not come to watch TV..

Very unique property in an ancient building. The rook was very good and clean with comfortable bed. Ac worked great. Great location in town and close to airport. Not on the beach, but we’re spending the next week on the water

The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829!

Air conditioning kept the room cool Our room was clean and comfortable. And we had a great meal at the restaurant on site. They did not offer any items that you may need for sale water as such. We would stay again. Hotels pretty neat being so old. Staff was exceptional

Great location, nice hotel we had a great room with a view. The bad part, no help with luggage. A lot of steep stairs and uneven surfaces. Unless you’re in good physical shape, it’s a struggle.

Just....don't... This hotel sells itself as one thing and is quite the opposite. They seem to have champagne taste with a beer budget. They offer a beautiful room mind you, until you get really into it. Double shutters to maintain the historic integrity I get that. No screens or glass between them...i don't. There are no tvs in the rooms as they "want their guests to relax". We'll, I relax by watching TV and I assume those that don't can simply not. Turn. It. On. That relaxation comes with a night full of hearing talking, loud music, horns honking and sirens....see aforementioned windows. If you are finally able to sleep, you get a nice wakeup call with workers throwing bricks down a chute off"your balcony" into an empty metal skip. That my friends, was a jump scare! There is no staff between 9pm and 9am, so whatever you do, don't need anything. The restaurant...outrageous prices so we didnt even bother. If you have mobility issues STAY AWAY. There are steep steps into the hotels, steep uneven and slick steps to your room and multiple uneven surface trip spots. It was about 10 days before "the on season" starts so I get last minute prep... i do. But we couldn't even use the pool due to massive chemicals in it according to front desk. Up side? The front desk staff were amazing and apologetic about the hotels shortcomings. They seemed to really care about the guests! Very nice and really tried despite the many obstacles. Maybe someday .....

The room itself was nice and adequate. However, the pool was very dirty, common areas in poor condition, WIFI was useless (extremely slow), had dinner plans for 7pm at the restaurant (reservation made by lady at front desk) and later called saying they weren't serving dinner.
