Positives: apartment was roomy and comfortable
Negatives: plumbing problem; “host” was rude and unhelpful; inaccurate information on website
After we arrived, I used the bathroom and the toilet didn’t flush. I turned the lever on the water line to the other position and then the tank filled and flushed with no problem. Later I noticed a lot of water on the floor around the toilet, explaining why the water supply had been turned off in the first place. After that, we had to turn the water off, then turn it on again when we used it.
In the meantime, we had communicated with our host. The listing says they have keyless entry, but they really had conventional keys. Not a problem in itself, but the locks were old and worn and I found them difficult to operate, so I texted to see if he could help. I am an English speaker and they list English as one of their languages, so I texted in English. We exchanged a few messages back and forth until he concluded “Je ne parle pas votre langue!,” followed by an obviously auto-translated suggestion “In Morocco try using Google translate to talk to people.” Fortunately, by that time I’d managed to unlock the door.
The next day, we went out and when we returned found that there was no water at all. I texted him (in French) saying that the room was unsatisfactory and that I would leave that afternoon. I’m running out of space, so I’ll just give one bit of his reply (my translation): “we’re fed up with your problems.”
