Gorgeous decor, but several service and building issues need attention
The hotel is beautifully decorated and provides a mostly quiet stay, but there are areas that need improvement. Check-in was long, as the new staff were still learning, and it took a couple of tries to get a working key. The fire alarm in my room went off a couple of times. They mentioned this had been happening in some rooms but offered to move me if it persisted.
One inconvenience was the lack of a proper place to store toiletries in the shower. Placing everything on the floor is not ideal.
The most frustrating part of my stay was attempting to use the gym on my last day. After calling downstairs to find out where it was, I discovered it was on the second floor, but I wasn't informed I had to go through a connection to another building. After scanning the code on the door to fill out a waiver, I discovered the door was locked and my key didn't work. I tried calling the front desk for help but no one answered. To make matters worse, I couldn’t get back into the main building, had to exit and walk around to re-enter from the other side. The front desk explained it’s a design flaw, but they could have provided instructions. They offered to make a special key but I had run out of time.
I hope they address these issues because, with a bit more attention to detail, this could be a fantastic stay.
