Don’t do it

So pet friendly but our room was horrible, I paid for a. Queen bed and we got a double, the fridge kept coming unplugged, air conditioning was in the wrong spot, rust all over the bathroom , hair on the pillows ( not ours) noisy, no cord on the phone tv didn’t work stains everywhere wallls dirty

The man behind the desk was surly and sarcastic We entered the room and were overwhelmed by the smell of mold (and Nil-odor?) The walls were grubby The dressers were missing handles and were stained The bathtub looked dirty, with dead bugs in it. There were no dish cloths or towels

The owners don't open up their office til 930 am, we were checking out 2 hours earlier then that, so we called the number as they needed to release our deposit. They refused to come down and do that and said they would do it once they opened the offfice for the day and send us a confirmation receipt via text message and they never did. In the room and outside the room smelled like cigarette smoke and was very dirty. Was very unpleasant and gave me a headache and made me feel very nauseous. The shower had very little water pressure. Was leaking and literally had a bandaid around the leak to "fix it". I felt very gross and dirty after staying there and throat was very sore from the smell. Definitely would not recommend or ever stay here again.

This was unfortunately the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. The room was very dirty, with an unpleasant smell that made it impossible to relax. We also did not feel safe, as some of the other residents seemed suspicious, and it even looked like homeless people were staying on the first floor. There was no real service provided at all. We ended up leaving the hotel earlier than planned because we simply could not stay there. I would definitely not recommend this property.

Location convenient; motel run down, cleanliness not good, equipment and fixtures barely hanging in there. Overall not a pleasant experience, check in was surly, abrupt impolite demeanor, I would have left if I could have cancelled upon (delayed) check in.

Ad showed 2 queen sized beds. Turned out they were doubles. Room was dirty, there was even black stuff in the shower/bathtub and it was small. Totally run down as well. We had already paid and were told they would only give us our deposit back when we didnt want to stay anymore. We chose to pay at the hotel rather than on expedia so expedia couldnt help us get a refund. They even tried calling the hotel on our behalf. Guess who didnt answer the phone the multiple times expedia tried? We will have to dispute the charge with the credit card company. Worker said he needed to cover the expedia charge and thats why we couldnt get our money back. Scammers here beware!

Management was very difficult to reach to check out. We left and the deposit wasn't returned until contacting the management 5 days later. Otherwise, a good experience.

The motel is what you would expect for 90$ a night. The room was dirty and run down and the pool was also very dirty/ messy around the pool. The bed linens and towels were stained/ not cleaned. We had to strategically plan coming to and leaving from the motel as there was a line up of sketchy looking people buying drugs out of the room below us. The location of the motel is convenient as you’re right in town but there was a large amount of homeless people around the motel. The woman who helped us for part of the check out was nice but the man who checked us in and finished our check out seemed mad to have to do his job. Room also was not serviced or cleaning during our 3 night stay. Overall it wasn’t great but it was cheep and we enjoyed being a 15 minute bike ride from the beach and close to restaurants.

The pictures on the website are incredibly misleading to swimming pool was completely unusable. Every single amenity in the room was unusable. For example, the hair dryer in the bathroom,the ironing board, the TV. Honestly I would say the nail in the coffin would have been the bag of crystal meth for lack of any more education that we found in the nightstand drawer on the day we checked out. All in all my suggestion, no matter how inexpensive the stay would be to find somewhere else.

I made a reservation through Expedia at the Schell Motel on July 19 2025 for July 26 - Aug 1. My credit card was charged $503.59 on July 20. On July 21 Schell sent me an email via Expedia that they were cancelling my reservation due to overbooking. I called the hotel trying different dates but none were available so I requested a refund. The motel manager told me it would take 7 - 10 business days to refund my money. It has been more than 10 days and I do not have a refund.

It's a old building with limited facilities however the location is good. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable..There was no exhaust fan in the washroom. Also the shower was not properly functional.

Don’t ruin your trip

We’ve been to this motel before and loved it. But management must have changed. I go to the hotel and first the person at the front desk treated us like we were an annoyance and interruption to their day. Then they give us a room that was away from the rest of the rooms stuck in a corner of a back alley that was so dirty, smelly and not inviting to the point where I questioned my safety. The pool area was terrible! The hot tub didn’t work, the pool was dirty. Beer cans laying everywhere, chairs and tables look like they haven’t ever been wiped and I’m not usually a complainer. I felt so unsafe I declined the room and asked for a refund. What a way to spend my time not just trying to get my money back but then trying to find another place to stay. I should at least get a refund for the second day cause it was 24 hours notice. Do not stay here. It will ruin your holiday. Hotels.com I’m waiting for my refund. Apparently the hotel said you were responsible for that part. If that’s not the case you should not endorse the hotel.

There is nothing that l liked except that it is within the city. The property is very dirty especially the inside and it smells cigarette. They need to improve their hygiene and customer service as well. Thank you!
