2/10 Poor

Poor Customer Service
We recently rented about ~10 rooms at the Belmont Hotel Mactan. Due to the number of guests in our traveling party going in and out of different rooms throughout our stay, we wrote room numbers on some of the hotel keycards. Apparently this was a huge no-no. They charged us ₱250 (~$5 USD) per "vandalized" card (their words). This wouldn't have been a big deal if they had explained this "policy" to us at check-in, but not a single employee did so beforehand. When I asked why no one explained this to us before giving us our keycards, they became extremely condescending and acted as if I should've known their policy without being told. Sorry Belmont Hotel Mactan, unfortunately I am not psychic and cannot read minds. When I asked them to just charge my credit card on file for the keycards, they said cash only - so I paid cash and then they never gave me a receipt. Very shady experience. Also, the breakfast buffet was extremely bland and disappointing. This wouldn't have been a big deal, except the food cost extra and isn't included with your room. If you scroll down other reviews for this hotel, a lot of other guests mention the disappointing breakfast food. Their bread is stale, eggs are watery, meat is plain, etc. You're better off buying breakfast elsewhere. If you like paying hidden charges and eating bland breakfast food, then congrats - This is the perfect hotel for you.

8/10 Very Good

The hotel is located in Mactan Newtown. This is like a mini upperclass town inside a lower class area. The town is self contained, and easily walkable. Within just a couple ,minutes walk from the hotel are a few high-priced restaurants, some shops, grocery stores, and convenience stores. There is a private beach which is very small, but cutoff from the other local areas. Inside the hotel was clean and spacious. I was on the 8th floor and getting off the elevator I was greeted with the smell of mold. Inside the room I did not notice the mold smell as much. The room itself was good size and clean. The bed was comfortable. The TV only displayed a few channels, there were no movie channels like HBO. Perhaps these are an add-on, but I don't know. There is a pool, which was of reasonable size, however was only 4ft deep max. The pool looked ok however was missing numerous tiles on its surface which just made it look a little shabby. There is a restaurant downstairs which I thought was overpriced compared to eating elsewhere. I think breakfast cost around $14usd, compared to local places outside the Mactan Newtown area (10 minutes walk) which could be as low as $3 or $4. The walki-n price for the room was laughable, the best price comes from apps like hotels.com, so definitely book through here for the purpose of saving money. Overall, I think the price of the room is reasonable for the quality, however cheaper options are definitely available.

It’s in a very nice developed neighborhood that reminds me of Cancun, where everything is dilapidated passed the property line. Nice developed beach resort nearby. Wish the door staff would be empathize and assist weary travelers assist in retrieving luggages front trunk.

This is a relatively new hotel in the Mactan Newtown area, and as such, has that new and clean feel. I have stayed here once before and found the room to be clean and the bed comfortable, but felt cramped with not much space for clothes or other personal items. The area surrounding the hotel offers a few options for dining outside, but the food at breakfast and the salmon at lunch were very good. However, I was surprised at the lack of more Western options at the breakfast buffet, including bacon or ham, yogurt, and a healthy option for cereal. The staff in the pool/pool bar area were great, especially the 2 bartenders and the life guard, Gary. I slipped and needed some immediate assistance with a couple wounds and the nurse was off duty. Gary was awesome attending to the wounds and the following morning the nurse on duty re-bandaged them. I will return to the hotel.

Friendly helpful staff. Poor buffet breakfast (cold eggs, cold pancakes, fruit not ripe). Other meals in the restaurant poorly cooked. In the room the aircon broken and operating continuously at 17 degrees (coldest setting). Was repaired 2ed day. Broken toilet set and broken toilet sprayer. No effective lighting for bathroom mirror. Overall poor value at a high price.

Pretty great stay just be forewarned
This place would be 5 stars except for 2 small but big deals. First there IS a septic problem that permiates the bathroom in a bad way. Second the "private beach" is nothing like you hope for in a Philippino beach. It's in a tiny industrial area that's really loud and you need water shoes if you're gonna go in because it's so insanely rocky. Everything else about our stay was awesome. Really wanted to give 5 stars but it's really a 4.

This hotel is catered more for local tourist. Hotel is still not ready for international travel Ei. They engaged alot of students (OJT), service is below par, breakfast choice limited such as one white rice, another garlic rice, that cónsidered as 2 choice of food on the breakfast counter. (only Philippinoes will eat so much rice), room is small, considered expensive. Staff is lack of initiative and language deficiencies. Only can serve their locals.
