This lovely little area of Castelvetro was a pleasure to stay in! The Locanda rooms were spacious and had nice amenities for coffee and tea. The living area was a nice addition to our space with lively decor. The toilet area is small but well appointed. If you want a romantic dinner reserve a table in the wine cellar. The hosts were fantastic! We should have stayed longer. One note: This is a castle village, the street is narrow but drivable. If you arrive by car, there is a large grove of trees where you can park. Then walk up the cobblestone road and the guesthouse on the corner of the 2nd left.

Beautiful top floor suite with a ‘peak’ view of the surrounding hillside. Really good restaurant in this hotel as well, so book it! Andrea, the sommelier, the check in guy and the host, is warm and professional. This is a small town with few dining options but his restaurant is excellent as well as the one down the street. Close proximity to Bologna and Modena city proper makes this a great romantic getaway.

La ubicación del hotel y la edificación son muy buenas. La zona es muy agradable para pasar una noche en un ambiente tranquilo y elegante. Grandes opciones para cenar a unos pasos o en el mismo hotel. El personal es simplemente atento sin más, el mantenimiento de la propiedad no es bueno, hay cosas muy viejas (no hablo del edificio) sábanas desgastadas, contactos rotos. El AC solo enfría la sección central del cuarto, pero no la habitación donde está la cama. Aunque por el precio supongo que está bien.

Lati positivi: Gestori gentilissimi. Colazione buona e fornita, nonostante fossimo gli ultimi. Lati negativi: Essendo sensibile ai rumori, sono stato svegliato da ospiti più mattinieri (nonostante i tappi per le orecchie). Forse questo non succede se si alloggia all'ultimo piano (noi eravamo al primo). L'ammodernamento della struttura storica risulta a tratti un po' freddo, in particolare la stanza da letto con le pareti color grigio chiaro illuminate da applique con LED un po' "freddi" (caldi se misurati in gradi Kelvin). Ma questa può essere una caratteristica specifica della nostra suite (la "girasole"), e potrebbe anche essere stata già corretta in base al mio feedback sul posto.

Perfect place to stay in the charming village of Castelvetro. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and gave us great advice on the local area, parking was a short walk away, and the food at the restaurant was amazing - one of the best dinners we had in Italy. We had debated about staying the weekend here or in Modena and are so glad we chose here.

Historic stay

This hotel is situated in the histroric part of Castelvetro di Modena. There is a large, public parking (free) about 200m away from the hotel but nothing stops you from parking in front of the hotel first to unload your bags. Rooms are spacious, old style and very comfortable. The restaurant is nice but expensive and you have to understand Italian quite well, to be able to read the menue. Breakfast is extensive for Italian hotels with the option of a fried egg or omelette at no extra charge. I would recommend this hotel more for couples than for business men. In summer time this historic area is certain to be beautiful with several open air dining possibilities near by.
