I'll start off by saying all the staff- only a handfull on site ,were great but seemed to be doing multiple roles ie very understaffed. No sign of a manger at all during our 3 day stay and staff seemed to be operating under "pressure"
Perhaps at the height of the summer I may have had a different experience as the outside terraces etc were all shutdown and that's where you'd want to be rather than inside the hotel....
This is a tired old property that hasn't been updated in many many years. Old soiled carpets, stained furniture, mismatched odd furniture just placed around the building. A constant smell of stale cigerette smoke especialy in the lobby and stairwell to the rooms.
Bedroom and bathroom linens were beyond old and worn. Our room was large and sparsely furnished with an onsuite that had a handheld shower in a precariously narrow tub which nessesitated some acrobatics to shower successfully.
I see why they have a payment in full upfront with policy, as we would have and I witnessed another couple try to shorten their stay but recieve no refund..
Overall, a very dissapointing stay for such a beautiful city. Surprised and dissapointed that Expedia promote it so highly ...
Think "Faulty Towers", Siena style ... if you get the reference, you know what i mean!
