We knew from the photos that the accommodations would be sparse and the amenities few, but we weren’t prepared for so many problems.
As we arrived in Rome early in the morning on an international flight, we planned to leave our bags at the hotel and walk around the area until check in time. We were disappointed to find that there was no secure storage for luggage, just a pile of bags in the very small lobby.
Hours after checking in and settling into our room, we found that the air conditioning was not cooling the room at all on a very warm and humid day. The staff offered to move us to another room, so we repacked our belongings and moved to a similar room. The toilet worked fine that first day, but on the second day it stopped working. When we explained the problem to the person at the front desk we were asked “What do you want me to do about it?”, and told to use the bathroom on the first floor near the breakfast buffet room. We also discovered that the room safe did not work. The staff did end someone to fix the safe eventually, but the toilet issue was not resolved. No one from the staff followed up with us or mentioned it again.
With dormitory style furniture, thin mattresses, and stained, moldy shower curtains, this establishment feels more like a hostel than a hotel.
Given all the inconveniences and a mostly indifferent, unaccommodating staff, I strongly believe I should receive a partial refund. I paid for a room with the expectation that, at a minimum, the air con
