I am not a nit-picker or a crab. But when I walk over a "welcome mat" that is worn to the point of bald to enter the facility, the instant message to me is no one cares about this place. The room was above average, bed comfortable, plenty of hot water. The breakfast was so-so, usual cereals, bread not appealing though both white and wheat, no English muffins or bagels in sight, also no cream cheese. Eggs were good; sausage too spicy hot for my taste (and no indication which were spicy and which not). Biggest disappointment was the malfunctioning hot tub. "Nick" said it was recently out, but who knows? This motel was my choice because of the hot tub! Warm pool water was a pleasant surprise, however. I was visiting family in Iowa, so a hotel was required one night each way. The Quality Inn I stayed in at $24 less on the way to Iowa was vastly superior to this one.
