My stay at Sonder Georgetown C&O Apartments was deeply disappointing due to a highly distressing lockout caused by an unprofessional deposit policy. The staff failed to collect the $50 deposit at check-in and later insisted I return to pay it, without clarifying any deadline or potential consequences. I never intended to avoid payment; when I returned later, the front desk was occupied, so I planned to settle it after dinner. Shockingly, just a few hours after check-in, the staff deactivated my access without any prior call, email, or app notification, leaving my belongings inaccessible. This punitive action caused significant distress and humiliation, which a simple attempt to contact me could have easily prevented.
After I paid the deposit, my access was restored, but the staff’s dismissive attitude only deepened the frustration. Additionally, my room was not ready at the official 4 PM check-in time, the air conditioning unit was excessively noisy, and the bathroom felt outdated. While those issues were inconvenient, they were insignificant compared to the unacceptable lockout, which destroyed my peace of mind and ruined my stay.
I strongly advise avoiding Sonder Georgetown C&O if you value being treated with basic respect.
