I've come to expect a certain standard from Coast Hotels. However, the Coast Hotel Penticton is actually bringing the chain down several notches
For one, it is NOT a hotel! It's a motel in a not great area of town that reportedly was bought and rennovated after a fire. The "Coast Hotel" sign above the lobby is actually just a vinyl banner strung up.
Yes, the room was clean and updated, but quite oddly, with a hotplate seemingly added to a hastily installed countertop to say it's a "kitchenette". There were quite a lot of homeless people loitering around the hotel as well, giving me an uneasy feeling, and made me check my cars door locks.
But the strangest thing about the room was that there were three hot/cold taps, yet not one could provide cold or even semi-cold water. When I asked the fromt desk clerk about it, I was met with "yes. They need to run for at least 15-20 minutes before they get cold. That's just this old plumbing. That's just how it is."
Very underwhelming experience.
