It had always been my dream to stay at the Madonna Inn & it didn't disappoint! Our room was wondering kitschy and garishly colored. After looking extensively at the different themes, we opted for one of the ones with it's own viewing tower. The view was cool from the little tower (though the temperature was not!), the spiral staircase was whimsical, and the light filtering down in the morning was quite lovely. Other noteworthy things:
- the shower pressure was great
- there was a bidet built into the toilet (I was too scared to use it, though)
- the room did smell a bit like cleaning products, which on the one hand is good, but on the other was occasionally overwhelming.
- robes were super soft.
- towels were pretty rough/utilitarian
- bed was ok, but not great.
- overhead lighting was super bright - some way on a dimmer, but not all, and the swimming was inconsistent.
- oddly, the lighting near the bed was controlled near the door, which was inconvenient.
- the hallway outside the rooms was a bit dingy.
- conditioner bottle was missing the internal straw thing that allowed you to pump it.
- there was parking right near our room, which was on the 4th floor.
- down in the main building, the gift shops were full of fun things to look at & buy.
- the restaurants had a lot on offer & delicious steaks.
- the drinks at the bar were pretty heavy pours.
Overall, a really fun experience!
