I don't normally review hotels, but figured this at least merited a few words. I'll start with the fact that, overall it was not a bad experience, per say, but there were a number of things that were inadequate about the hotel and being someone who travels multiple times per month, I was a bit shocked.
Let me begin by saying that the staff was incredibly kind, and were the only saving grace of the hotel.
The issues:
Upon arrival you actually check in at the NEXT which is just across the street and the sister hotel to Jupiter. Ok, fine, no big deal. The staff asked if I wanted to pay to upgrade from Jupiter to NEXT, which is odd because it was sold out weeks in advance online. I decided to stay where I was since I had done my research and it looked like a nice experience.
Jupiter hotel looked and felt like a ghost town. Poorly lit at best, not a soul in sight, zero amenities...I mean zero. The room was fine, and felt clean-ish - just wasnt for me. And while I am sure it was safe, let me put it this way, if I was a female travelling solo, or simply someone who does not travel frequently - I would have felt unsafe.
The restaurant and bar at the NEXT (because that is all there was) was closed to a friends and family event. They offered to serve me in the lobby - while generous, it felt awkward.
All that to say, in all my research done prior to my stay, none of this showed up online, and nothing was communicated to me in advance.
Guess I should have taken the upgrade.
