Our stay was generally pleasant, but there were a few issues that need addressing. First, the receptionist told my wife and me that we hadn’t requested adjoining/connecting rooms, despite this being clearly stated in our booking (as noted above). I understand that requests can’t always be guaranteed, but I find it frustrating when we’re given incorrect information, especially when it feels misleading. Of course, I accept this was a request, but I don’t like being lied to.
We were staying during a particularly difficult time, as my mum had just passed, and we were trying to make the best of things. Unfortunately, we were assigned rooms next to the lift and were later informed that maintenance work would start at 8 AM on the day of check-out. While this wasn’t ideal, we accepted it because those were the only interconnecting rooms available, and we have young children who are early risers.
On a more positive note, dinner at the hotel was a pleasant surprise, and we truly enjoyed the experience.
However, I do want to address an uncomfortable incident we had while using the pool. A private gym member reprimanded my 5-year-old daughter for splashing water (we were very conscious to avoid the "lane swimmer") , even though we were within the designated family swim times and had paid for pool access.
