This stay was not as nice as I had hoped. We traveled with our two young kids at the end of August. The biggest issue was that the outdoor pools do not have a shallow area or baby pool for kids to safely stand. There is a ledge around the edge of the 4 ft deep big pool where kids can stand, but an adult needs to basically hold them at all times. This would be okay (not ideal), but the water was a little cold to stand chest deep for long periods of time to hold them back from falling all the way in. The water was too cold to want to go down the waterslide. This made the whole point of the hotel with children not very relaxing.
The hotel also felt understaffed in all areas. For example, at checkin, we waited in a line with four other parties in front of us. The hot tub had at least a dozen empty cups around the edge, making even finding a place to sit feel a little dirty. The Blue Point restaurant was also noticeably understaffed. The reception desk only picked up once over three attempts to call with separate requests.
Lastly, I booked a room with breakfast included. At the restaurant, I was handed an a la cart menu and asked the server to clarify what I had already paid for upon booking. His response was “I have no idea what you booked.”
The experience made me choose to not book a Hyatt for another upcoming stay. I am sad to write this review, but for the cost of this hotel and the Hyatt name, I expected a little more.
The s’mores at the fire, though, were lovely.
