Views from sea view room exceptional. Sea Beats restaurant next door so convenient. Friendly staff and clean rooms. The car park at rear of hotel which is two minutes walk away is an added bonus.

All in all a pleasant stay in a well appointed hotel which clearly caters for the elderly very well. Close to the beach and to the transport hub and land train pick up and drop off points is a major benefit.

Managed to park directly in front of the hotel, with blue badge for disabled passenger, but not easy in June. No specific disabled parking spot near hotel. Very friendly staff; very clean and quiet.

Overall Happy

I had read reviews so I knew it would be tired, and it was, but very comfortable and I was happy with my stay. The first night we had a 15 minute walk from the parking, but we managed to repark on day 2.

Beautiful sea view from bedroom window

Only one thing to say is that the room looked like it could of done with a makeover Apart from that no complaints. Price matched the room.

Nice hotel. Stayed in a twin room with a sea view. The sea view was definitely worth it as it was a picturesque view from our room. Hotel is dated with wallpaper peeling in some places, but the room and bathroom were both clean. Staff were friendly. Only issue is that the hotel is lacking a storage room for bag drops. We were told to put our bags in the restaurant, which didn’t feel very safe. An allocated locked room would have felt more secure.

Traditional English Hotel in the heart of Weymouth. Good facilities and friendly staff. Stayed in one of the turret rooms. Great Views of the whole bay from the panoramic windows. Could do with some maintanace, Windows need painting and don't open and close properly so there is a draft, but makes no difference if you like the window open at night. one window has tissue in it to stop the draft. Overall good, would stay again.

Average. Needs more confort and better service

Good looking building, good location, but room / beds are not confortable. Staff is not very welcoming to say the list. Special request was not taken into account.

Comfortable and friendly issues with getting fed!

Clean hotel and friendly staff but arriving at 1930 after a 21 mile walk to be told the kitchen was about to close and only pre bookings would be accepted was a problem. Especially as there has been no prior notification. Ok there was a fish & chip shop on the corner but what I wanted was a shower then relax over a meal and a drink or two

Bar not open until 3pm so could not have coffee ☕️in the lounge bar area enjoying the sea view at 11.30am until lunchtime. Spoiled the hotel (as opposed to a b&b) experience. Was told to use coffee maker in my room which had inadequate 💺 seating (a small double plus no sea view) . Last night appreciate reception getting me this room on same floor as my friend who’s there for a week, after I booked my room on a different floor.

Room photos when booking weren’t accurate

I booked a twin seaview room for £180 a night because the photos in ‘select a room’ on hotels.com showed the room had French doors onto a balcony. Beautiful. But on arrival our twin seaview room had no balcony just windows. I queried it with reception who said only ‘superior’ twin sea view rooms have balconies. I think it is unfair and misrepresentative to use photos of a superior room to illustrate what turned out to an inferior standard room option. I was very disappointed. The rest of the stay was ok. Best thing about stay was the location close to everything. But this comes with a lot of road noise and sound of a tractor cleaning the beach for an hour at 6am. Windows are single glazed so earplugs were definitely needed. Also parking was difficult.
This is actually the ‘twin seaview’ room option-no French doors onto a balcony

10AM Checkout, Fire Alarm, Cold Shower

The hotel was a little old and drab, but you get what you pay for. We had a nice sea view and the bed wasn’t too uncomfortable. The staff also seemed quite polite and friendly. Those are the positives. There were a few unfortunate negatives with our stay: The hotel was advertised at 11am checkout time, but upon arriving we were told checkout is at 10am and always has been. The fire alarm INSIDE the bedrooms started blaring out for a solid 5 minutes at 9am. Somehow nobody thought to turn this off immediately, for all the guests who were asleep. There was NO hot water when I had a shower at 1am. We were in fancy dress for Halloween so I had no choice but to brave the icey water lest I stain the bedding with blue hair spray. Otherwise, the room was somewhat comfortable and the location of the hotel was ideal.

Excellent stay, staff very polite, convenient for railway station, shops and restaurants.

Sea view room was good, we only booked room only but decided to have breakfast which was £10. When we sat down the lady came over and quite rudely pointed out that our breakfast wasn’t included and that we’d have to pay the reception the cost of the breakfast, which of course is standard when you check out. The way they made us feel was like we were going to do a bunk without paying. As for the breakfast it was by far the worst breakfast I’ve ever experienced.

DON'T STAY AT THE ROYAL HOTEL, IT IS A B&B ONLY

Selected this hotel as wanted to take my 82 year old mother to somewhere that had a restaurant so we could eat in if required, was shocked to find that even though we were residents that they could not serve us any evening meals in the restaurant as were fully booked with a resident coach party. This hotel should be advertised as a b&b as that is all it is and would have been cheaper to stay somewhere else with the same facilities offered. Breakfast was passable but not a great selection and buffet not replenished so had to ask for bowls, butter etc. Would not recommend or stay here again, booked an evening meal at the nearby Rex hotel which was excellent and the staff actually wanted to serve you.

Overall value for noney

Superb location next to the beach shops and restaurants. The hotel was a bit tired and dated but the room although creaky was clean and adequate. Breakfast was ok warm but considering it was included with the room price, good value. Parking was difficult to find however we found a space at the rear for £6 a day.
