We stayed a few nights in Warders Cottages and one night in the newer Garde Hotel - the rooms are very different but both high quality and nice touches such as still & sparkling water on tap and a free mini bar selection.
If you like character then go for the cottages as the room in the main hotel could have been anywhere. The only complaint/suggestion would be to have some sort of sheer blind etc in the Warders Cottage room as people can see into your room from the street so you end up getting dressed with the curtains closed! Apart from that all was great - and Emily Taylor their restaurant is definitely worth a visit!
(By the way, just in case you aren't aware this hotel is not in Central Perth, Freo is about a half hour easy train ride away.)
