We stayed here for 4 nights while visiting family at the end of August. Check-in was efficient and the staff we met were pleasant and helpful.
On arrival the room was clean although as others have commented, the carpets, furniture and fittings appear tired, dated and in need of a refresh. The cleaning policy is to change towels and clean rooms after 3 days. As we were booked for 4 nights it would have been better to have refreshed the room halfway.
Breakfast is a buffet which we ate once. There was a range of fruit juices but they ran out of water. I liked that there was fresh fruit and the croissants were fresh and flaky. The cereal selection was limited to individual packets. For cold options there was sliced cheese but no cold meats or fish. The hot options were bog standard bacon, sausage, eggs etc. I was disappointed that Manx kippers, a local delicacy weren't available but perhaps there is no demand for them.
I liked that there are vending machines so that you can buy water when you want
The hotel's spa is its crowning glory. The pool is a decent size for casual swimmers, the jacuzzi, steamroom and women's sauna worked well and the showers and changing room were clean.
