Service at reception could have been better. I arrived a bit early, around 13:00, and asked whether a room might be available. The receptionist told me that no rooms were ready and that check in was not until after 15:00. I said that was fine, but asked if she could please let me know as soon as a room became available, as I was very tired and hoping to rest.
I then had something to eat in the restaurant and afterwards sat in the reception area, clearly visible from the desk, waiting to hear if a room was ready. The receptionist saw me several times but did not provide any update. At around 14:30 I asked a different member of staff if a room was available, and I was immediately given one. When I entered the room, it did not appear to have just been vacated, which suggests that rooms may have been available earlier.
This is the first time I have experienced this level of reluctance to assist as a guest, which was disappointing.
That said, the room itself was fine, if a bit warm, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good, and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful.
