My first negative review of a hotel, ever. I am 39 and travel a lot for work. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is nice. I want to share that first. The issue is failure to deliver on basic expectations of a hotel room, especially when you upgrade to a suite with a loft. We were provided only one towel for our two-night stay, even though my reservation noted two guests. On our first night I wanted to watch the end of the MNF game on the living room TV. The cable resolution was poor, but worse, ABC, the channel hosting the game, did not work. We ended up watching from bed upstairs. That same evening, the WiFi did not work, which in 2025 is unacceptable. Thankfully it was fixed the next morning.
We chose this large room because my wife works from home and we needed space. At check-in, I was told housekeeping only comes upon request. We did not request service and left the “no service” sign out, yet housekeeping still entered during my partner’s call.
Other misses: no paper towels or soap except one tiny bar, only two small trash cans despite the large space. Additionally, silverware, cups, plates were not in any of the ten cabinets we had (again a large room), and were available upon request. Lastly, we paid to extend our stay, yet our parking lot access deactivated. The WiFi also went out again our last night (we called and they said PW changed). All these issues in less than 48 hours point to a larger problem. Houston’s Magnolia is wonderful. This was disappointing.
