We were on a family road trip, and since Winslow was along the way, I chose Quality Inn—not because it was affordable (it wasn’t), but because the photos and reviews made it seem like a decent place. What a huge mistake. The room initially looked fine. The TV was laughably tiny, but I didn’t care much—we were just stopping for rest. I was with my wife and two young daughters. Soon after arriving, one of my daughters needed to use the bathroom. My wife took her, only to find there was no toilet paper. Luckily, we had wipes on hand. I went to check myself and was shocked to find a huge spider, right next to the toilet, front legs raised as if ready to attack. I went to reception, showed the photo, and reported it. The receptionist apologized and said she’d look for bug spray. As she opened a drawer, a cockroach jumped out. I literally laughed in disbelief. I told her they clearly needed to fumigate the whole place. With no bug spray available, she apologized again, trying to end the conversation—until I insisted I wasn’t staying in that room. She finally switched us to another room.
Maintenance came and confirmed the spider was a wolf spider. The receptionist was visibly disturbed by it. We moved rooms, but I couldn't relax. I spent the whole night checking under beds, in drawers, everywhere. I barely slept, constantly waking to scan for spiders.
For the price, I expected basic cleanliness and safety. Instead, I got pests, fear and a lack of care from staff
