Given that my expectations of The Plaza Hotel were quite high, I was very surprised at the state of the room I was given. The phone did not work, the refrigerator placed in the room did not work, the towel bar fell off the wall after barely touching it and the air conditioning unit was not responsive to any adjustments (but thankfully it did work). Also, it seemed like only one of the four elevators was working all weekend, leading to a very slow descent on checkout day.
On the plus side, the location was great, along with the view, and it was very handy to have the $17 per day self serve parking connected to the hotel.
