This hotel is always my go to whenever visiting the Bay Area. It had a nice ambience, even though the rooms were a little dated. The price was usually among the lowest for a decent hotel. On my most recent visit I was given my usual “Executive” room. A little roomier than most rooms. I found the air conditioner wasn’t working. I called downstairs and they said they would send somebody up. I waited two hours and nothing. Call down again, she apologized and said she would send somebody up again. An hour later, still nothing. My wife and I went to the front desk. As we stood in line, someone who identified himself as the general manager asked if he can help us. He obviously already knew what was going on. We explained the air conditioner issue and he said that they were working on it and that it involved the whole wing. He admitted that they checked us into the room, knowing that there was this problem! Now, he was very apologetic but they had no room to move us to as it was already 9 PM. He offered to comp us the room for the night and to bring up a fan, which we accepted as he told us, the problem would be fixed within the next couple of hours. He went so far as to go to Sam’s Club to buy a huge fan. The problem still wasn’t fixed the next day so they ended up switching us to another room that had a toilet that swiveled! This place is old and is showing its age. It is being demolished come October and replaced with a Courtyard Inn AND a Fairfield Inn.
