My corner room was small and slightly grubby. The carpet was stained and dusty in places where the vacuum had not reached. Carpets throughout the hotel were in a similar condition. There was no kettle or phone in my room and no information in the room explaining the hotel or what time meals were.
I got an email from the hotel the day before my travel saying that the dining area and bar were undergoing "renovation" so would not be available during my stay (breakfast was still available). I saw absolutely no sign of any work being done on any part of the hotel during my 7 night stay.
The staff were friendly but seemed disorganised The fire alarm went off twice during my stay but each time it was a false alarm. Nevertheless no evacuation of the building was completed and it was only by passing someone on the stairs that I found out there was not a real fire.
My biggest complaint is the pricing and the apparent rating of the hotel. I would have been far more at ease with the hotel's failings if I had been paying less than the £115 a night it cost me to stay there.
