For a timeless experience that connects people across the centuries, you can’t beat a traditional abra ride across the creek. Hop aboard and perch on a wooden bench to take in awe-inspiring views of old Dubai’s architecture and the striking contrast with modern glass-fronted buildings.
There are 4 stations and 2 routes to choose from. For a tranquil crossing, travel from Deira Old Souk, near the Spice Souk, to Bur Dubai. Or try the busier but equally beautiful route from Al Sabkha to Dubai Old Souk. Each boat holds about 20 passengers, and the crossings are a low-cost way to experience a nostalgic glimpse into the country’s cultural roots. You could hire an abra for a private trip.
