Somorrostro Beach is a 500-metre long fine-sand beach that's protected by a stone breakwater, making it ideal for bathing in gentle waters, and it's popular among families with kids. The beach is easy to access via public transportation or automobile and offers an easygoing, playful atmosphere.

First known as a gipsy community, the area was once the home of a shantytown, which was dismantled by the 1980s. Well-known flamenco dancers Carmen Amaya and Antoñita Singla hailed from the neighbourhood, and 'Los Tarantos', an award-winning movie about flamenco featuring Amaya, was filmed there in 1963.
