Room was clean with a kettle, fridge, tv and coffee machine. Really friendly and nice staff. Very close to shops including waitrose.

Staff really friendly and helpful. There were a few plumbing issues with the bathroom and the windows could have done with a clean, but otherwise the room was great and well provisioned with tea and coffee. A complimentary in-room breakfast was provided, which we weren't expecting. Would visit again.

Very friendly lady checked us in and showed us to our room, which was very clean and there was an actual bath in the bathroom, which is quite unusual these days! We didn’t expect breakfast, but there was a hamper containing continental breakfast, and a fridge with milk, water and orange juice. The kitchen wasn’t open on the evening we stayed, so we ate at The Prince of Kent Indian restaurant next door (which was also very good). The bed was comfortable and my only criticism was there was no mirror in the bedroom, but all in all, great value for money.

Both the bedroom and ensuite were very clean. People were helpful and friendly. Within walking distance of shops, supermarket and several restaurants. The place was built several hundred years ago so has plenty of beautiful features in the pub.

Had a lovely stay at the Royal Oak. The staff were really friendly and Neil was super helpful carrying my heavy suitcase up the stairs and then down again on departure. The room was cozy and had all the amenities: flat screen tv, kettle and a radio. I loved the continental breakfast hamper; It was so nice to not have to go down to get breakfast in the morning (especially as I was feeling quite tired) because the breakfast hamper was already in the room complete with a coffee machine, kettle and mini fridge with milk, juice and water. This way I was able to choose a time that suited me to have my breakfast. The hotel's pub served food; the fish was well made (I ordered fish and chips). Hotel had free parking on its premises and it was in a good location - high street with shops, plus close proximity to other attractions; I went to Scotne Castle which was about 15 minutes drive away. Overall I had an enjoyable stay and would recommend.

I booked this for my husband as he was in the area for business purposes & from their photos and reviews it looked great and somewhere he could eat a decent meal. However, when he arrived there is no food served during the week. The hotel side was totally unmanned. Entry was via tapping in a code, which was fine, however the door handle needs replacing as kept.spinning round. His room was terrible.and nothing like the photos, it was poorly maintained, cup stained furniture, holes in the wall that had been filled but left unpainted, just a very poorly maintained room. To add to that as it was one of the hottest days of the year, the windows could not be opened, so sleep wise was terrible. The offering of breakfast was a jar of granola which was soft and due to how bad the room was my husband didn't feel he could even the breakfast. As he travels all over the UK & Scotland for business he has said unfortunately this was on his top 10 of the worst places he has stayed at.

We were in one of the refurbished rooms which was vey clean, however there is obviously still some additions that are required in the main areas that look very drab and neglected. The heating in the bedroom was good but the en-suite bathroom had no heating at all and was so cold you didn't want to shower in there, the addition of some form of heating is needed here .A bin in the bathroom and some sort of shelf to put your own bits and pieces on would be useful.A mirror in the bedroom would be a good addition. The breakfast hamper and small chiller is a nice touch and was useful. Overall the stay was good and once the renovations are complete we are sure it will all look lovely.

Stayed in Room 6 for 1 night. First the bad bits : Toilet had very slight weep from soil pipe at back that dribbled across the bathroom floor. TV didn’t work. Aerial disconnected and no way to join the 2 halves of lead. And no remote. Clearly had not been checked or tested. Very poor sound insulation between our room and next door. Could hear the tv, normal speaking voices quite clearly, and the snoring during the night!! The room is at the front of the building overlooking a junction. As it’s only single glazed it can be bit noisy with traffic. Didn’t bother me as used to traffic noise at home. Good bits: Staff very helpful and friendly. Bed was soft, comfortable and sheets clean. Room /bathroom clean. Pub itself very comfortable. Usual pub grub fayre bit limited but spicy chicken wings, fish & chips, sticky toffee pudding, hot and tasty. Though no cooked breakfast available, a croissant, small jar jam, and form of granola was in our room along with small bottle of milk in fridge. There was however, a cafe across the road that did an excellent cooked breakfast on a Sunday morning. We didn’t discover the bad bits about the room because we hardly spent any time in it until the night after the pub had closed. And because you let yourselves out and leave the room key in a pot by the door and the pub is closed, I couldn’t inform anyone of the condition of the room. Would I stay here again?? Possibly for 1 night

Lovley place to stay. We stayed for one night and with 2 dogs. Check in was super easy and thr staff were all friendly and helpful. Lovley complimentary breakfast hamper too, which was not expected, but very welcome.
