We stayed at Sterling Lake Palace Alleppey for a 3-day family trip, and the experience fell short of expectations.
The private road leading to the property was in very poor condition. It was broken and full of potholes, which created a weak first impression.
After checking in, the room we received did not match the images or features shown on the hotel page. There was no bathtub or double vanity. The room felt rundown, damp, had seepage on the walls, old furniture and the overall cleanliness was poor. We had messaged the hotel through Hotels.com to inform them that we would be arriving a few hours late and to keep a good room ready for us, but we did not receive any response. It felt like the lack of communication contributed to us being given a room that was not prepared or maintained properly.
We were upgraded to a better room on the second day, which we appreciated, but the bad first impression had already affected our stay and we decided to check out a day early.
The positive part of our stay was the staff. They were helpful, polite and very service oriented. They made an effort to improve our experience after the issues we faced on the first day. They also helped us find a medicine box we had forgotten in the initial room.
Our main concern is with the condition of the property. The staff is excellent, but the infrastructure and maintenance need significant improvement to match the expectations set online.
